Strawbale
building at
the heart of our garden ...
In September 2010 we built the first strawbale house
in Manchester. The
designs and planning application were made by Ian Grindey from Grindley Consulting,
Sustainable Building Consultants and Engineers, the
construction and greenroof
managed by Ian Weguelin from
Outerspace Landscape and Contractors.
The construction took
eight months thanks to our volunteers and staff, Jonny, Alan, Andrew,
Phil, Sam, Matt, Greg,
Kath, Wendy, Joe, Helene,
Katherine, Karen, Jamie, Wendy and Martin.
The grand opening
took place on 12th August 2011 with special guests Mike Riley from BBC6
Music, Tony Lloyd MP and Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City
Council.
