We wondered where all our pumpkin seeds went. We discovered this squirrel eating our seeds!

Look who came one winter's morning! A little hedgehog wandered into the garden centre. But it was too soon to come out of his winter nest so we rescued him and took him to the hedgehog sanctuary in Whithington.   Hedgehog - click for bigger picture
This is one of the two cats who comes in and curl up to sleep in some very unusual places. Here he is on the potato sack. He looks like he is saying 'What are you looking at? Go away!'   Cat - click for bigger picture
Last spring we had the visit from hundreds of frogs in our pond! It was really noisy and there was thousands of tadpoles. Come in to see how many we get this year.

Hello!

This is a grass head guy. Do you know how to make it? Here is how!

You will need:
  • Some tights
  • Compost
  • Grass seed or water cress seeds
  • Buttons for eyes
First, fill the end of on leg of the tights with compost. Make sure you make a ball about the size of your fist or slightly larger.

Take a handful of grass seeds and push them into the ball making sure to cover the top and side of the compost with seeds. This is where the grass 'hair' will grow and you don't want it poking out of the poor guy's nose!

Then tie the tights with a knot where the neck should be and find a container to place it in, a saucer, a ball or even an old yogurt pot which you could decorate. The knot will be in the container of water and will serve as a wick to seep in the water to the grass seeds.

Decorate your head with buttons for eyes. You can shape your head with a nose if you squeeze in the middle of the face.

Fill the container with water and place your head on it, making sure the knot is in the water.

Sit back and relax and watch your grass head guy's hair grow!!
